CBSE Curriculum

The school follows Central Board of Secondary Education [ C B S E ] Curriculum

  • The CBSE prescribed NCERT text books are followed from Grade- 6. For Grade 1 to 5, the Text Books and Work Books of "LEAD School - An Integrated Learning System "  along with "Oxford and Cambridge Publication" books are followed.

 

Principles of the CBSE Curriculum

The curriculum refers to the lessons and academic contents to be taught to a learner in the school. In empirical terms, it may be regarded as the sum total of a planned set of educational experiences provided to learner by a school. It encompasses general objectives of learning, courses of study, subject-wise instructional objectives and content, pedagogical practices and assessment guidelines. The curriculum provided by CBSE is based on National Curriculum Framework – 2005 and seeks to provide opportunities for students to achieve excellence in learning.

Salient Features of the CBSE Secondary School Curriculum

 

THE CURRICULUM PRESCRIBED BY CBSE STRIVES TO:

  • Provide ample scope for physical, intellectual and social development of students.

  • Enlist general and specific teaching and assessment objectives.

  • Uphold constitutional values such as Socialism, Secularism, Democracy, Republican Character, Justice, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Human Dignity of Individual and the Unity and Integrity of the Nation by encouraging values-based learning activities.

  • Nurture Life-Skills by prescribing curricular and co-curricular activities to help improve self-esteem, empathy towards others and different cultures etc.

  • Integrate innovations in pedagogy, knowledge and application, such as human sciences with technological innovations to keep pace with the global trends in various disciplines.

  • Promote inclusive education by providing equal opportunities to all students.

  • Integrate environmental education in various disciplines from classes I – VII

  • Equally emphasize Co-scholastic areas of Art Education and Health and Physical Education.

 

Languages

  • The medium of instruction is English.

  • Tamil has become a compulsory second language from class 1. Students can also opt for Hindi as an additional language,

  • From Class V onwards, the students can choose Hindi  or Tamil as a second language. 

Primary School Curriculum

  • Grade 1 to 5 is treated as Primary school. 

  • The curriculum has been designed to creatively prepare students to be adaptable for the later stages of their education while allowing them to cherish their childhood experiences.

  • The focus is on Activity-based learning which kindles the spirit of exploration and helps to acquire sound language skills, clarity of mathematical concepts and understanding of scientific concepts. Learning is enriched by a number of activities like KALOTHSAV, drama, story-telling, conversation, music, I.T., discussions and a wide range of artistic and hands-on activities. Scientifically-proven graded methods of teaching towards developing the skill to read and write are adopted.

  • A full-fledged Composite Lab with graded lessons and Mathematics lab to suit the needs of the learners is also a unique feature of the Primary school.

  • Our children are given an opportunity to pick a genre of their choice from the list of art integrated activities
